Weekly Update: Campbell's Proposal on STVR Legalization

July 10, 2020

Here’s what you need to know about important new issues impacting our city this week…

There seems to be another backroom deal in the works at City Hall.

Councilmember Jennifer Campbell joined with Expedia (owner of companies like HomeAway and Vrbo) and Unite Here (a hotel worker union) in proposing an ordinance that would LEGALIZE Short Term Vacation Rentals in San Diego.

This proposal doesn’t take into consideration how the pandemic has further impacted our housing crisis caused by the 16,000+ homes and apartments removed from the market to serve visitors instead of local San Diegan families. This proposal doesn’t take into consideration the costs of weekend party policing, and the $2 Million dollar/yr loss of the City’s waste management budget.

Thanks to thousands of San Diegans who believe in me, we far exceeded our June 30 fundraising goal. We’re off to a great start for a great election! We are definitely on our way.
