As we all are adjusting to life during COVID, my team is primarily working remotely, we meet everyday on Facetime, and we have hosted several webinars on issues like the science behind the pandemic and the impact on small business. This Saturday, we are pleased to host our first virtual community event to hear from you!
I invite you to grab a beverage and join me on Zoom this Saturday, May 16, from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. for “B.Y.O.Bry” (formerly known as “Brews with Bry”.)

5/11 - Mayor Faulconer, Supervisor Cox Urge Governor for More Local Control in Reopening Economy
Mayor Faulconer was joined by County Board of Supervisors Chairman Greg Cox to urge the Governor to provide more local control to counties seeing sustained progress in the response to COVID-19.
The call to action follows a letter sent by Mayor Faulconer and Supervisor Cox asking the Governor to provide clearer and more practical guidance on safely reopening the economy.

5/11 - COVID-19 Testing Trends Up in San Diego County
Testing for COVID-19 has been increasing in San Diego County with the number of daily total tests in the region exceeding 3,300 in four of the past five days.
Overall, the number of tests is expected to continue to climb toward the goal of 5,200 in the region daily. The County remains on the right trajectory with testing and contact tracing and should be ready to continue reopening the local economy when the state moves to lift more restrictions.

5/8 - Restrictions Eased on Camping, Recreation Rentals
The County revised its Health Officer Order, further relaxing restrictions on recreational activities, including camping and the rentals of certain recreational equipment.
As of May 9, local campgrounds can begin to reopen, but certain restrictions will apply. In addition, businesses that rent recreational equipment — including bicycles, surfboards, boats, kayaks and other watercraft — can reopen if, like other businesses allowed to reopen, they prepare a “Safe Reopening Plan.”

5/12 - Governor Newsom Announces California Has Conducted Over 1 Million Diagnostic Tests for COVID-19
Governor Newsom announced that more than 1 million diagnostic tests for the virus have been conducted statewide, with daily testing averaging more than 35,000 in the past few days.

5/11 - Western States Pact Urges Federal Support for States and Cities Responding to COVID-19 Pandemic
In a letter to Congressional leadership, governors and legislative leaders from five western states requested $1 trillion in direct and flexible relief to states and local governments in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic in order to preserve core government services like public health, public safety and public education, and help people get back to work.

Donations Requested for “FEEDING San Diego's HEALTHCARE HEROES” by MANA de San Diego
MANA de San Diego, a Latina organization that strives to empower Latinas in education, leadership, advocacy and community involvement, requests donations for its FEEDING San Diego's HEALTHCARE HEROES initiative.
This effort will help support not only the HEALTHCARE HEROES but also local restaurants, and every dollar will go directly to the effort.
